can provide a number of data networking solutions. Broadly these can be broken
down into Public IP (or Internet) Solutions or Private IP Solutions. Private IP
Solutions do not use the public Internet; instead data does not leave the
Telstra network. Private IP Solutions offer a number of benefits over an
Internet based solution however the main consideration is the ability to
control the environment. As soon as your data hits the public Internet your
data has to compete with all of the other Internet data and you have very little
control over the end to end quality.

Telstra have segregated their private
IP offerings into four distinct products
- Telstra Connect IP
- Business IP
- Telstra IP Wide Area Network (WAN)
- IP Metropolitan Access Network (MAN)
Telstra Connect IP
Telstra
Connect IP allows your business to share information with a very high degree of
security and reliability. It offers a range of sophisticated voice and data
capabilities that can help you work more efficiently and reduce communication
costs. Telstra Connect IP is a private IP network. It uses the Internet
Protocol communication standard that network administrators already know how to
use and manage, but all data travels on the private Telstra network. This makes
it a secure, reliable and convenient way of sharing information between
business sites. Connect IP is an end-to-end solution, with minimal up-front
costs and management needs.

Connect IP, your business can:
- Securely share customer data, financial information and other
sensitive information
- Easily add new employees or business locations to the network
- Reduce inter-office calling costs using IP telephony
- Give employees full access to the network when they are working
remotely
- Use IP applications such as unified voice and email messaging

Telstra Business IP

Business IP is a secure, fully managed network solution built on a dedicated IP
wide-area network. It offers your business:
- A core IP-based wide-area network solution
- Your choice of Frame Relay, Business DSL or ADSL access
- Network maintenance services.
Telstra
Business IP is similar to Telstra Connect IP, but it is not an end-to-end
solution. Telstra does not provide customer routers or Internet access with Telstra
Business IP network packages.

IP Wide Area Network (WAN) is a dedicated IP network solution. It can give your

Telstra IP Metro Area Network (MAN)
Telstra
IP Metro Area Network (MAN) is a simple and cost-effective way to connect
offices within metropolitan areas. This highly flexible solution is available
in most major cities and a growing number of regional centres. It provides:
- IP connectivity - connect multiple
sites in a many-to-many architecture.
- Scalable bandwidth – TelstraIP MAN provides
bandwidth from 2Mbps to 1Gbps. It also allows up to six classes of service so
customers can prioritise latency or time-sensitive applications such as voice
over IP and videoconferencing.
- Ethernet interface – TelstraIP MAN enables your
business to use familiar and affordable Ethernet networking equipment.

Telstra Internet Gateway packages
- PVAS Standard Internet Gateway
Package - Provides
you with firewall and fixed policies for content security. Management portal
and reporting allow you to see what and how threats are being managed. Remote
access via VPN tunnels optional.
- IPVAS Enhanced Internet Gateway
Package - Provides
you with flexibility in how your firewall, AV/AS and content security policies
are managed, and includes security protection for up to 25 remote users and 5
remote sites connecting into the network.
- IPVAS Premium Internet Gateway Package
- Provides
a package designed to support businesses with very large field-based workforces
connecting into the network. Up to 100 remote users and 15 remote sites can be
managed and connected into the network.
